Possible Causes
Defective water inlet valve coil, Blocked internal water line to ice tray, Faulty ice maker control board not energizing valve, Scale buildup in valve body
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power and close the water shutoff valve before servicing.
- Listen for valve activation: During a test cycle (see user manual for test mode), listen at the back of the unit. A humming sound indicates the valve is energized.
- If valve hums but no water: Remove and inspect the valve for mineral scale. If the outlet is blocked or the valve is heavily scaled, replacement is recommended.
- If valve is silent: Check the wiring harness from the control board to the valve for damage or loose connectors. Reseat plugs.
- Run diagnostic: Many Miele ice makers have a service mode. Enter it and trigger a water fill test. If the board never sends power to the valve, the control board may be faulty.
- Replace faulty component: Replace the water inlet valve if it receives power but does not open. Replace the control board only after confirming wiring and valve are good.
Note: Always use the exact Miele-specified replacement valve to ensure correct pressure and flow characteristics.
