Possible Causes

Failed ice tray drive motor, Jammed ice tray mechanism, Broken drive gear, Faulty wiring between motor and control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before touching the ice maker mechanism.

  • Inspect for jams: Remove the ice bin and visually inspect the ice tray or mold. Look for large clumps of ice, foreign objects, or misaligned parts preventing rotation.
  • Manually move tray: Gently attempt to rotate or move the tray by hand. It should move with slight resistance. If completely stuck, thaw any ice buildup by leaving the door open with the unit off for 1–2 hours.
  • Check motor wiring: Access the ice maker module and locate the tray motor. Confirm the connector is fully seated and wires are intact.
  • Electrical test (advanced): With power on and in test mode, measure voltage at the motor terminals when a harvest is commanded. If voltage is present but the motor does not turn, replace the motor or complete ice maker assembly.
  • Replace assembly if gears stripped: If you hear the motor running but the tray does not move, internal gears may be stripped. Replace the ice maker module.

Warning: Do not force the tray; excessive force can crack the mold or damage gears.
