Possible Causes
Partially clogged inlet valve, Restricted water filter in plumbing line, Low household water pressure, Partially frozen internal water line
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off water supply and disconnect power before servicing water components.
- Check water filter: If your Miele ice maker is connected through an external filter, replace the filter if it is older than recommended or shows reduced flow.
- Inspect inlet valve screen: Remove the supply line and clean the mesh screen on the Miele inlet valve.
- Verify pressure: Use a pressure gauge on the supply line; most ice makers require at least 20–40 psi. Correct any plumbing issues if pressure is low.
- Check for partial freeze: Look for a section of the water line that is colder and rigid. Defrost the unit if necessary and adjust freezer temperature slightly warmer to prevent re-freezing.
- Run a test cycle: After corrections, run several ice cycles and monitor cube size. If still small, replace the inlet valve.
Note: Persistent low fill can also be caused by a mis-calibrated control board, but this is less common than valve or pressure issues.
