Possible Causes
Leaking internal water line, Cracked ice tray or reservoir, Loose water inlet fitting, Blocked drain causing overflow into base pan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power and close the water supply valve immediately if a leak is suspected.
- Inspect base pan: Remove the toe-kick or lower panel and check for water in the base. Many Miele units have a float switch that triggers F23 when water is detected.
- Dry the area: Use towels or a wet/dry vacuum to remove all water. Allow the float switch to dry completely.
- Trace the leak: With water still off, inspect all visible water lines, the inlet valve, and the ice tray for cracks or loose fittings. Tighten compression nuts gently; do not overtighten plastic fittings.
- Check drain path: If your model has a drain for meltwater, ensure it is not blocked with ice or debris. Clear with warm (not hot) water.
- Test under observation: Turn water back on and watch for leaks while the unit runs a fill cycle. Repair or replace any leaking component.
Warning: Do not operate the unit with an active leak; this can damage electronics and flooring.
