Ice maker shows F24, ice cubes fused together in bin, ice compartment excessively frosty

Safety: Disconnect power before accessing the evaporator or heater. Avoid contact with sharp fins.

• Inspect evaporator: Remove the interior panel to view the ice maker evaporator. A solid block of ice indicates defrost failure.
• Manual defrost: Allow the unit to defrost fully by turning it off and leaving doors open for several hours. Protect floors from water.
• Heater continuity: Once accessible and dry, disconnect the heater leads and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed heater that must be replaced.
• Check defrost thermostat/fuse: Test any inline thermostat or thermal fuse for continuity at room temperature. Replace if open.
• Control board: If heater and thermostat are good, the control board may not be initiating defrost. This requires board replacement.

Warning: Do not chip or scrape ice from the evaporator with sharp tools; you can puncture refrigerant lines.
