Miele
Mechanical Noise / Vibration Fault
Miele ice maker making loud knocking, banging, or rattling noises during operation
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Loose ice maker mounting screws, Ice cubes jammed in auger or crusher, Worn auger motor bearings, Vibrating water lines against cabinet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before placing hands near moving parts.
- Identify noise source: Listen carefully to determine if the noise comes from the ice bin area, rear of the unit, or inside the cabinet.
- Check ice bin: Remove the bin and inspect the auger and crusher for jammed or oversized ice chunks. Break up clumps and discard misshapen ice.
- Tighten mounts: Verify that the ice maker assembly and auger motor bracket are securely fastened to the cabinet.
- Secure water lines: If water lines are rattling against the back panel, secure them with foam or clips.
- Replace noisy motor: If the auger motor or fan makes grinding or squealing noises even when unloaded, replace the motor.
Note: Some minor cracking sounds during defrost or ice release are normal, but persistent loud banging is not.
