Possible Causes
Defective ice tray position sensor, Jammed ice tray or broken tray gear, Faulty ice tray motor, Loose wiring between tray assembly and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect the appliance from mains power.
Steps:
- Inspect ice tray: Open the ice compartment and visually inspect the rotating ice tray or cube plate. Remove any stuck ice, foreign objects, or heavy frost that may block movement.
- Check for free movement: Gently rotate the tray by hand (if design allows). It should move smoothly without grinding or binding.
- Examine wiring: Access the tray motor area (usually behind or beneath the tray). Check the small harness and connector to the tray motor and position sensor for damage or loose fit.
- Test motor: With power disconnected, measure motor coil resistance and compare to Neff specifications. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
Resolution: If the tray is mechanically damaged or the motor/sensor tests faulty, replace the complete ice tray motor assembly or tray module as supplied by Neff.
