Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power. The heater operates at mains voltage and can be hot.
Steps:
- Access evaporator/plate: Remove the internal panel to expose the ice‑making plate or evaporator where the harvest heater is mounted.
- Visual inspection: Look for burnt spots, broken heater element, or melted insulation.
- Test heater: With a multimeter, measure resistance across the heater terminals. Infinite resistance indicates an open heater.
- Check thermal fuse/thermostat: If fitted in series with the heater, test continuity. A blown fuse will read open and must be replaced (do not bypass).
Resolution: Replace the harvest heater assembly (and any inline thermal fuse/thermostat) if defective. If the heater tests good, the fault may be on the control board heater relay, which typically requires board replacement.
