Possible Causes
Blocked ice full sensor window, Misaligned infrared emitter/receiver pair, Failed ice full sensor board, Loose or damaged sensor wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance before accessing internal components.
How to troubleshoot:
- Empty the ice basket: Remove all ice from the storage basket and ensure nothing is blocking the sensor area.
- Locate the ice full sensor: On many OBH Nordica countertop ice makers, an infrared sensor pair is located on opposite sides of the ice chute or above the ice basket.
- Clean the sensor lenses: Use a soft, dry cloth or a slightly damp microfiber cloth to gently clean the small plastic windows of the emitter and receiver. Dry completely.
- Check alignment: Ensure both sensor modules are firmly mounted and facing each other directly. If one is loose, tighten its mounting screws or clips.
- Inspect wiring: Remove the side or front panel to access the sensor wiring harness. Check for loose connectors at the sensor and main PCB, and look for damaged or pinched wires.
- Test operation: With the unit reassembled and powered, start a cycle and observe whether E3 reappears once the basket is empty. If it does, the sensor board may be defective and should be replaced.
- Replace sensor if needed: Install a new OBH Nordica-compatible ice full sensor/IR board and reconnect wiring securely.
