Possible Causes

Failed circulation water pump, Blocked pump inlet or outlet, Airlock in water circuit, Loose or corroded pump connector on PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before accessing the water system or pump.

Steps:

  • Check water level and quality: Ensure the reservoir is filled to the correct level with clean, non-carbonated water. Very low water can cause the pump to run dry and trigger E6.
  • Listen for pump operation: When the unit starts a cycle (briefly plug in and start), you should hear a gentle humming or water trickling sound. If silent, the pump may not be running.
  • Inspect pump and hoses: Unplug again, remove the lower or rear panel, and locate the small circulation pump connected to silicone or plastic hoses. Check for kinks, clogs, or mineral buildup in the hoses and pump inlet.
  • Clean the pump filter: Some OBH Nordica models have a small mesh filter at the pump inlet. Remove and rinse it under warm water to clear debris.
  • Bleed air from system: After reassembly, fill the reservoir and tilt the unit slightly forward and backward to help release trapped air from the pump and lines.
  • Check wiring: Ensure the pump connector is firmly seated on the main PCB and that wires are intact.
  • Replace pump if needed: If the pump receives power but does not run, or is noisy and seized, replace it with an OBH Nordica-compatible water circulation pump.
