Dirty water reservoir, Bacterial growth in hoses, Residual cleaning chemicals, Strong odors absorbed from environment
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before cleaning. Do not use harsh chemicals that are not food-safe.
Steps:
- Discard ice: Throw away all existing ice and empty the water reservoir.
- Deep clean: Wash the reservoir, ice basket, and internal surfaces with warm water and mild dish soap. Rinse thoroughly.
- Sanitize: Run a cleaning cycle with a diluted vinegar solution or a food-safe sanitizer recommended by OBH Nordica. Discard all ice produced during this process.
- Rinse cycles: Refill with fresh water and run 1–2 full cycles, discarding the ice to remove any remaining taste.
- Use fresh water: Always use fresh, filtered water and avoid storing the unit near strong-smelling items (cleaners, garbage bins).
