Possible Causes

Defective evaporator NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from evaporator plate, Broken sensor harness, Faulty main control PCB sensor circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety warning: Disconnect the ice maker from power before removing covers or touching internal components.

Steps:

  • 1. Reset the unit: Unplug for 10–15 minutes, then reconnect and start a new cycle. Observe if E2 reappears.
  • 2. Access the evaporator area: Remove the top or side cover to expose the stainless steel evaporator grid/plate. The evaporator sensor is usually clipped or glued to the side or back of this plate.
  • 3. Check sensor position: Ensure the sensor bulb or probe is firmly attached to the evaporator surface. If it has fallen off, reattach using thermal tape or the original clip so it makes good metal-to-metal contact.
  • 4. Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor cable back to the control board. Look for cuts, abrasions, or loose connectors. Reseat the plug on the PCB.
  • 5. Test or replace sensor: Use a multimeter to measure resistance at room temperature and compare with Princess specifications. Replace the evaporator NTC sensor if readings are open, shorted, or inconsistent.
  • 6. Evaluate the PCB: If a new sensor does not clear E2, the main control PCB may not be interpreting the sensor signal correctly and may need replacement.
