Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before inspection. The compressor and surrounding parts can be very hot; allow them to cool.
Steps:
- 1. Check ventilation: Ensure at least 10–15 cm clearance around the sides and back of the Princess ice maker. Remove any objects blocking the air vents.
- 2. Clean condenser: Remove the rear panel to access the condenser coil. Use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint. A clogged condenser causes overheating.
- 3. Inspect condenser fan: Confirm the fan spins freely by hand and is not obstructed by debris. When powered (briefly plug in and start a cycle), the fan should run whenever the compressor runs. If it does not, replace the condenser fan motor.
- 4. Check compressor start components: With power disconnected, remove the plastic cover on the compressor terminals. Inspect the PTC starter and overload protector for burn marks or loose connections. Replace if damaged or if the compressor hums and clicks off.
- 5. Allow cool-down: If the compressor is extremely hot, let the unit cool for 30–60 minutes, then restart. Persistent E3 after cleaning and fan checks may indicate a failing compressor or sealed system issue.
Note: Compressor or sealed system repairs require specialized tools and should be performed by a certified refrigeration technician.
