Possible Causes

Blocked air vents around cabinet, Failed condenser fan motor, Dirty condenser coil, Faulty thermal cut-out sensor on condenser or compressor shell

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before removing panels. Components near the compressor can be hot.

Steps:

  • 1. Improve airflow: Move the Princess ice maker away from walls and heat sources. Ensure all side and rear vents are unobstructed.
  • 2. Clean condenser and vents: Remove the rear cover. Use a brush and vacuum to clean dust from the condenser coil and fan blades. Clean external vents with a soft brush.
  • 3. Check condenser fan operation: Spin the fan by hand to ensure it moves freely. Briefly power the unit and start a cycle; confirm the fan runs when the compressor should be on. Replace the fan motor if it does not start or is noisy and slow.
  • 4. Inspect thermal cut-out: Locate the thermal protector or thermostat clipped to the condenser or compressor shell. Check for loose mounting or burnt connectors. If the protector is open-circuit at normal temperature, replace it.
  • 5. Cool-down and reset: Allow the unit to cool for 30–60 minutes, then restart. If E5 returns quickly, further diagnosis by a technician is recommended.
