Possible Causes
Bent or mispositioned ice thickness probe, Scale buildup on thickness sensor, Broken thickness sensor harness, Faulty thickness sensor switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before adjusting any internal probes or sensors.
Steps:
- 1. Locate thickness probe: Remove the top cover and find the metal or plastic probe that senses ice thickness near the evaporator grid.
- 2. Clean probe: Remove limescale or slime from the probe using warm water and a soft cloth. Do not bend it excessively.
- 3. Check alignment: Ensure the probe is positioned according to the manual (usually a few millimeters from the evaporator surface). Gently adjust if it is bent away or touching the plate.
- 4. Inspect wiring: Follow the probe wires back to the control board and verify the connector is secure and undamaged.
- 5. Test operation: Restart the unit and observe whether the cycle completes and ice thickness is normal. If F2 persists, the probe assembly may need replacement.
