Possible Causes

Stuck mechanical float in water reservoir, Faulty water level sensor or reed switch, Mineral buildup or debris around float assembly, Damaged wiring between float sensor and control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the ice maker from power before removing covers or working near water components.

  • Step 1 – Check water level: Ensure the reservoir is filled to the correct MAX line with clean, potable water. Do not overfill.
  • Step 2 – Inspect the float: Remove the ice basket and top cover (if removable). Locate the plastic float in the reservoir. Move it up and down gently; it should move freely without sticking.
  • Step 3 – Clean the float area: Drain the reservoir. Use a soft brush and a 1:1 mix of white vinegar and warm water to remove scale or slime around the float and its guide tube. Rinse thoroughly.
  • Step 4 – Check sensor wiring: Access the underside or side panel to locate the float switch wiring harness going to the main PCB. Ensure connectors are fully seated and wires are not pinched or broken.
  • Step 5 – Test the float switch (optional): With a multimeter set to continuity, disconnect the float switch and test while moving the float. The switch should open and close reliably.
  • Step 6 – Replace faulty parts: If the float is cracked or waterlogged, replace it with a Pro Breeze water level float assembly. If the switch is defective, replace the water level sensor / reed switch.
  • Step 7 – Reassemble and test: Refill the reservoir, reassemble covers, plug in the unit, and start a cycle to confirm E2 is cleared.
