Possible Causes

Blocked condenser airflow, Dirty condenser coil, Failed condenser fan motor, Overheating compressor or faulty overload protector

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before removing rear panels. The compressor and condenser can be very hot.

  • Step 1 – Check ventilation: Ensure at least 15 cm (6 in) clearance around all sides and back of the unit. Do not place it in a cabinet or against a wall.
  • Step 2 – Clean condenser coil: Remove the rear panel to access the condenser. Use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint from the coil fins.
  • Step 3 – Inspect condenser fan: Confirm the fan spins freely by hand. Look for obstructions like plastic bags or dust buildup. Clean the blades.
  • Step 4 – Test fan operation: Reconnect power briefly with the rear panel off (keep hands clear). When the compressor attempts to start, the fan should run. If it does not, unplug and replace the condenser fan motor.
  • Step 5 – Check compressor overload: With power disconnected, locate the overload/relay module on the compressor terminals. Inspect for burn marks or a burnt smell.
  • Step 6 – Replace overload/relay if needed: If the module rattles when shaken or shows signs of damage, install a new Pro Breeze compressor start relay and overload protector.
  • Step 7 – Reassemble and test: Refit the rear panel, plug in the unit, and run for 30–60 minutes. If E5 returns and the compressor is extremely hot or fails to start, the compressor itself may be failing and requires professional service.
