Possible Causes
Loose internal mounting screws, Vibrating compressor feet, Worn condenser fan motor bearings, Ice shovel contacting housing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before tightening screws or touching moving parts.
- Step 1 – Level the unit: Place the ice maker on a solid, level surface. Adjust feet if provided.
- Step 2 – Check for external vibration: Ensure the unit is not touching walls or other appliances that can amplify noise.
- Step 3 – Inspect fan and compressor mounts: Remove the rear panel and tighten any loose screws on the fan bracket and compressor mounting plate. Replace worn rubber grommets with compressor mounting grommets.
- Step 4 – Listen for fan noise: If the noise is a high-pitched whine or grinding from the fan, replace the condenser fan motor.
- Step 5 – Check ice shovel clearance: Inside the ice compartment, ensure the shovel does not scrape the housing. Adjust or tighten its mounting if needed.
