Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Salter ice maker before opening any panels. Do not work on the unit while it is connected to mains power.
- Check water level: Remove the ice basket and inspect the water reservoir. Fill with clean, cold water up to the MAX line. Restart the unit.
- Inspect the inlet filter: Many Salter countertop ice makers have a small mesh filter at the water intake inside the reservoir. Remove any visible debris and rinse the filter under running water.
- Check for kinks: Gently tilt the unit and visually inspect internal silicone water hoses (through vents or access panel if provided). Straighten any kinks or pinches that could restrict flow.
- Reset the unit: With the unit unplugged for at least 5 minutes, plug it back in and press the power button to clear the error. If E1 returns immediately, the water level sensor may be faulty.
- Sensor inspection (advanced): If accessible, locate the water level sensor or float switch in the reservoir area. Ensure it moves freely and is not coated with limescale. Clean gently with a soft cloth and white vinegar, then rinse thoroughly.
If the error persists after these steps, the water level sensor or internal hose assembly may need replacement by a qualified technician.
