Possible Causes
Blocked ice full sensor, Misaligned infrared emitter/receiver, Faulty ice full sensor board, Loose sensor wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the ice maker before touching internal components.
- Empty the ice basket: Remove all ice from the storage basket and the evaporator area. Overfilled baskets can trigger E2.
- Clean the sensor window: On many Salter models, the ice full sensor is an infrared pair near the top of the ice basket area. Wipe both sides of the sensor windows with a soft, dry cloth to remove condensation, frost, or mineral film.
- Check for obstructions: Ensure no ice cubes are stuck in front of the sensor or wedged under the sensor bracket.
- Reseat connectors (if accessible): Remove the side or rear panel (if user-serviceable). Locate the small PCB for the ice full sensor and gently press the plug-in connector to ensure it is fully seated.
- Power cycle: Leave the unit unplugged for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect and start a new cycle to see if the error clears.
If E2 persists, the ice full sensor assembly or its control board may require replacement.
