Possible Causes
Clogged water pump inlet, Failing circulation pump, Airlock in water line, Severely scaled water distribution tube
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the Salter ice maker before working on the water system.
- Check water level: Ensure the reservoir is filled to the correct level with clean water.
- Descale the system: Drain the reservoir. Fill with a mixture of white vinegar and water (1:1). Run a cleaning cycle if your model supports it, or run for 10–15 minutes then drain and rinse thoroughly.
- Clean pump inlet: Locate the pump intake screen at the bottom of the reservoir. Remove any debris or limescale buildup.
- Bleed air: After refilling with water, tilt the unit slightly forward and backward to help remove trapped air from the pump and hoses, then restart.
If E7 persists and you cannot hear the water pump running during operation, the circulation pump may need replacement.
