Possible Causes
Insufficient hot gas flow to evaporator, Faulty 3-way valve (if fitted), Incorrect evaporator temperature sensing, Excessive scale on evaporator plate
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before cleaning the evaporator.
- Defrost manually: Turn off and unplug the ice maker. Leave the lid open and allow all ice to melt from the evaporator plate. Do not use sharp tools to chip ice.
- Clean evaporator: Wipe the metal evaporator surface with a soft cloth soaked in warm water and a little white vinegar to remove mineral deposits. Rinse with a clean damp cloth and dry.
- Check room temperature: Ensure the unit is not used in very cold rooms (below about 10°C), which can interfere with the harvest cycle.
- Restart: Plug the unit back in and run a new cycle. Observe whether cubes now release properly.
If E8 returns and cubes consistently fail to drop, there may be a fault in the refrigeration control (valve or PCB) that requires professional service.
