Possible Causes
Dirty water reservoir, Bacterial growth in hoses, Residual manufacturing oils, Use of unfiltered tap water with strong odour
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug before cleaning. Do not use harsh chemicals that are not food-safe.
- Drain and clean: Empty the reservoir using the drain plug. Wash the reservoir with warm water and mild dish soap, then rinse thoroughly.
- Deep clean with vinegar: Fill the reservoir with a 1:1 mixture of white vinegar and water. Run a cleaning cycle or run the unit for 10–15 minutes, then drain and rinse several times with clean water.
- Clean basket and scoop: Wash the ice basket and scoop with hot soapy water and rinse well.
- Use fresh water: Always use fresh, cold drinking water. Consider using filtered water to reduce odours and scale.
If odour persists after thorough cleaning, internal hoses may be contaminated and require replacement.
