Possible Causes
Unit not level, Loose fan shroud or panel, Compressor mounting grommets worn, Foreign object contacting fan blades
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug before touching moving parts.
- Level the unit: Place the Salter ice maker on a solid, flat surface. Adjust its position so it does not rock. Use a spirit level if available.
- Check for contact: Ensure the unit is not touching walls, cabinets, or other appliances that can amplify vibration.
- Tighten panels: Gently press on side and rear panels while the unit is running (briefly, with care) to identify any loose panels. Then unplug and tighten accessible screws.
- Inspect fan: Look through the vent to ensure no wires or plastic pieces are rubbing against the fan blades.
If loud knocking or metallic clanking persists, internal mounts or components may be damaged and should be inspected by a technician.
