Salter
Reduced Cooling Efficiency
Ice maker produces ice very slowly, long time between batches
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Dirty condenser coil, Partially blocked airflow, High ambient temperature, Weak compressor or partial refrigerant loss
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug before cleaning.
- Improve ventilation: Move the Salter ice maker so there is at least 15 cm clearance on all sides and above. Keep it away from ovens, radiators, and direct sunlight.
- Clean condenser: Use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust from the rear/side condenser coil and fan area.
- Room temperature: Use the unit in a cooler room if possible (ideally 15–25°C). High room temperatures significantly slow ice production.
- Descale evaporator: Clean the evaporator plate with a vinegar solution to remove limescale that can insulate the surface.
If performance remains poor after cleaning and improving ventilation, the compressor or refrigerant charge may be weak and require professional diagnosis.
