Possible Causes
Defective ice maker thermistor, Open or shorted thermistor wiring, Ice maker control board failure, Corroded connector at ice maker
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power to the refrigerator before servicing the ice maker.
Steps:
- Access ice maker: Remove the ice bucket and ice room cover. Carefully pull the ice maker assembly forward to expose the wiring connector.
- Inspect connector: Check the multi-pin connector for moisture, corrosion, or loose pins. Dry any moisture and reseat the connector firmly.
- Check harness continuity (advanced): Using a multimeter, test continuity of the thermistor wires from the ice maker connector back to the main harness. Repair or replace the harness if open.
- Replace ice maker assembly: If wiring is intact but the 14E error persists, the thermistor inside the ice maker is likely faulty. On most Samsung models, the thermistor is not serviceable separately; replace the entire ice maker assembly.
- Reset and test: After replacement, press the Test button on the new ice maker to initiate a cycle. Allow up to 24 hours for normal ice production.
