Possible Causes

Faulty ice maker thermistor, Loose or damaged wiring harness to ice maker, Failed ice maker control board, Corroded connector at ice maker module

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power to the refrigerator before accessing the ice maker or wiring.

Inspection steps:

  • Access the ice maker: Remove the ice bucket from the freezer. On many Samsung models, remove the ice room cover by releasing clips or screws. Carefully pull the ice maker assembly forward.
  • Check wiring harness: Inspect the multi-pin connector that plugs into the ice maker. Look for bent pins, corrosion, or loose fit. Reseat the connector firmly. If any wires are broken or insulation is damaged, the harness should be replaced.
  • Thermistor check (advanced): The ice maker thermistor is usually embedded in or attached to the ice maker housing. Using a multimeter and the service manual resistance chart, measure thermistor resistance at known temperatures (e.g., room temperature vs. ice water). If readings are out of spec, replace the ice maker assembly.
  • Reset the ice maker: Press and hold the Test button on the ice maker for 3–5 seconds until a chime sounds. Allow 24 hours for normal operation.

If the 2E error returns, the ice maker assembly or main control board may be defective. Replacement of the ice maker assembly is usually the first step.
