How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before working on the ice maker.
Steps:
- Inspect for ice blockage: Remove the ice bucket and check if the ice maker is encased in ice. If so, the heater may not be functioning.
- Manual defrost: Unplug the refrigerator and allow the ice maker area to fully defrost. Use towels to absorb water. Avoid using sharp tools.
- Test heater and sensor (advanced): Remove the ice maker assembly. Using a multimeter, measure resistance of the heater and defrost sensor according to the service manual specifications. Replace the ice maker assembly if either component is out of range.
- Reinstall and test: Reinstall the ice maker, restore power, and run a test cycle using the Test button. Monitor for recurrence of 41E.
