Ice dispenser motor hums but no ice comes out.

Safety first: Unplug the refrigerator before working on the dispenser or auger.

Steps:

• Remove ice bucket: Pull out the bucket and check for clumped or fused ice. Discard clumps and dry the bucket.
• Inspect auger: Examine the metal or plastic auger inside the bucket for cracks, stripped splines, or looseness. Replace the ice bucket assembly if damaged.
• Check ice chute: Look up the chute for stuck ice or frost. Clear any blockage by hand.
• Test auger motor: With the bucket removed and door switch held closed, briefly press the dispenser lever (with power on) and listen for the auger motor. If silent, the motor or control may be faulty and the dispenser auger motor may need replacement.
