Bin Full or Bin Thermostat Satisfied
Unit will not run, control shows lowercase 'b' and ice production is stopped

Possible Causes
Ice bin is full and blocking bin thermostat, bin thermostat stuck closed, bin switch out of position, control board misreading bin sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power to the ice maker before reaching into the bin or accessing internal components.
This code usually indicates the bin is full or the bin thermostat/switch is satisfied.
- Check ice level: Open the bin and remove excess ice. Make sure ice is not packed tightly around the bin thermostat bulb or bin switch arm (if equipped).
- Inspect bin thermostat bulb: On many Scotsman undercounter units, a sensing bulb or probe is mounted near the top of the bin. Ensure it is securely mounted, not buried in ice, and not damaged or kinked.
- Reset power: After clearing ice around the sensor, restore power and allow the unit to cycle. The 'b' indication should clear once the thermostat warms up.
- Check bin switch alignment: If your model uses a mechanical bin switch, verify the actuator arm moves freely and is not stuck in the "full" position. Adjust or tighten mounting screws if the switch is misaligned.
- If the unit still shows 'b' with an empty bin: The bin thermostat or bin switch may be stuck closed or the control board may be faulty. At this point, testing continuity of the bin thermostat/switch with a multimeter is recommended. Replace the defective component if it does not open when warm.
