Possible Causes
Broken thermistor lead, unplugged sensor connector, corroded terminals, failed thermistor element
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing the evaporator area or control compartment.
- Locate thermistor: Find the evaporator thermistor clipped to the evaporator plate or tubing.
- Check connection: Ensure the thermistor plug is fully seated on the control board and free of corrosion.
- Inspect wiring: Look for broken, cut, or chewed wires along the harness path.
- Test resistance: Measure thermistor resistance at room temperature and compare to Scotsman’s chart. An infinite reading indicates an open sensor. Replace if open or out of range.
- Retest unit: After replacing the thermistor, restore power and verify that E11 clears and the unit runs a full cycle.
