Possible Causes
Thermistor leads shorted together, water intrusion into sensor, crushed harness, failed thermistor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before working on wiring.
- Inspect sensor and harness: Look for damaged insulation, pinched wires, or moisture around the thermistor.
- Disconnect and test: Unplug the thermistor from the control board and measure resistance. A near-zero reading indicates a shorted sensor. Replace if defective.
- Check routing: Reroute the harness away from sharp edges or hot components to prevent future damage.
- Control board check: If a new thermistor still shows E12, the control board input may be shorted and require replacement.
