Possible Causes
Harvest thermistor shorted, thermistor not attached correctly, control board harvest logic fault, wiring short
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before working on sensors.
- Find harvest thermistor: On many Scotsman models, the same thermistor is used for both freeze and harvest sensing; on others, a separate sensor is used. Verify it is properly clipped to the correct location.
- Inspect for damage: Look for crushed or cut sensor wires and damaged insulation.
- Test sensor: Use a multimeter to measure resistance and compare to the service chart. A reading near zero ohms indicates a shorted sensor. Replace if defective.
- Check harness routing: Ensure the harness is not pinched by panels or brackets causing intermittent shorts.
- Control board: If sensor and wiring are good, the control board may be mis-timing harvest and should be evaluated for replacement.
