Possible Causes
No water supply, clogged water inlet screen, failed water inlet valve, low water pressure, water level sensor fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and close the water supply valve before disconnecting any water lines.
- Check water supply: Verify the supply valve is open and there is adequate water pressure. Ensure the supply line is not kinked.
- Clean inlet screen: Remove the water inlet line at the valve and clean the inlet screen of debris.
- Inspect water level sensor: On reservoir-type Scotsman units, check the water level probe or float for scale buildup. Clean with a soft brush and descaler.
- Test water inlet valve: During fill, the valve should energize. A technician can check for 120V/230V at the valve and measure coil resistance. Replace if not opening.
- Reset and test: Restore water and power, then observe a fill cycle to confirm proper operation.
