Possible Causes
Ice thickness sensor misadjusted, scale on thickness probe, thermistor out of calibration, control board timing error
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before adjusting sensors.
- Clean thickness sensor: On many Scotsman models, an ice thickness probe or float determines harvest. Clean it thoroughly with descaler to remove scale.
- Adjust thickness: Follow the service manual to adjust the thickness sensor or control setting to the recommended ice thickness.
- Check thermistor placement: Ensure the evaporator thermistor is correctly attached and not insulated by scale.
- Control reset: Power cycle the unit after adjustments and monitor ice size. If overfreezing continues, the control board may be faulty.
