Possible Causes

Faulty ambient NTC temperature sensor, Damaged sensor wiring harness to main control board, Corroded or loose sensor connector on PCB, Failed main control board input circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Silonn ice maker before opening any panels. Do not work on the unit while it is connected to power.

Steps to check and address E1:

  • Power reset: Unplug the ice maker for 10 minutes, then plug it back in and restart. If E1 returns immediately, continue.
  • Access the sensor: Remove the top or rear cover (depending on model) to access the small NTC sensor clipped near the air intake or mounted on the inner liner. It usually has two thin wires going to the control board.
  • Inspect wiring: Check the sensor wires for cuts, pinches, or burn marks. Ensure the connector is fully seated on the main PCB.
  • Test the sensor: With a multimeter set to resistance (ohms), measure the sensor at room temperature. Typical NTC sensors read between 5–50 kΩ at ~25°C. If it reads open (OL) or 0 Ω, the sensor is defective.
  • Replace if faulty: If readings are abnormal, replace the ambient temperature sensor (NTC) with a compatible Silonn part. Route the new sensor in the same position and secure it with the original clip or bracket.
  • Check the board: If a known-good sensor still triggers E1, the main control board may have a failed sensor input and should be replaced by a qualified technician.

When to call a professional: If you are not comfortable using a multimeter or removing covers, or if replacing the sensor does not clear E1, contact an appliance technician.
