Failed recirculation water pump, Blocked water pump inlet screen, Kinked or blocked water circulation hose, Loose pump wiring connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker and drain water before removing the pump.
Steps to fix E6:
- Check water level: Ensure the reservoir is filled to the proper level. Some Silonn models will show E6 if the pump runs dry.
- Inspect the pump area: Remove the ice basket and inner cover to access the water pump located in or near the reservoir.
- Clean inlet screen: Remove any debris, scale, or slime from the pump inlet screen and reservoir. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- Check hoses: Verify that the circulation hose from the pump to the water distributor is not kinked, pinched, or blocked with mineral deposits.
- Test the pump: With the unit reassembled but still open, plug it in and start a cycle. Listen for the pump running and look for water flowing over the evaporator. If the pump is silent or just hums, it may be seized.
- Replace pump: If the pump does not run or is very weak, replace the recirculation water pump with a compatible Silonn part. Transfer any rubber grommets or mounting brackets from the old pump.
When to call a professional: If you are not comfortable disconnecting hoses or dealing with water inside the unit, seek professional service.
