Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between display board and main PCB, damaged control panel keypad, moisture intrusion into control panel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the ice maker before removing the control panel.
Steps:
- Inspect control panel: Remove the screws securing the front control panel. Carefully pull it forward to access the ribbon cable or harness.
- Check connections: Ensure the ribbon cable is fully inserted into both the display board and main PCB connectors. Reseat if necessary.
- Look for moisture: If there are signs of condensation or water inside the panel, dry the area thoroughly and allow the unit to sit unplugged for several hours.
- Test buttons: With the panel reconnected and the unit powered, test each button. If some or all buttons are unresponsive and E10 persists, the keypad or UI board is likely faulty.
- Replace UI board: Install a new user interface / display board assembly compatible with your SMAD model. Transfer any mounting hardware and reconnect the ribbon cable securely.
