Possible Causes
Dirty ice full sensor, misaligned mechanical bin arm, stuck ice in chute, failed ice level switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the ice maker before reaching into the ice bin or chute.
Steps:
- Clear ice jams: Remove the ice bin and check for clumped ice blocking the sensor or mechanical arm. Break up and discard any fused cubes.
- Clean sensor/arm: Wipe the ice level sensor window or mechanical arm with a warm, damp cloth to remove frost and residue.
- Check arm movement: If your SMAD model uses a mechanical bin arm, move it up and down by hand. It should move freely and return by spring tension. If it sticks, inspect for bent parts or ice buildup.
- Test operation: Reinstall the bin, restore power, and observe whether the unit resumes ice production. If the ICE indication returns immediately, the ice level switch or sensor may need replacement.
