Possible Causes
Aging condenser fan motor, dust buildup on fan shaft, misaligned fan blade rubbing housing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before servicing the fan.
Steps:
- Access fan: Remove the rear panel to expose the condenser fan assembly.
- Clean fan: Remove dust from the fan blades and motor housing with a soft brush and vacuum.
- Check for rubbing: Spin the fan by hand and listen for scraping. Adjust the fan blade position so it does not contact the shroud.
- Replace motor: If squealing persists or the motor feels rough when spun by hand, replace the condenser fan motor with a SMAD-compatible part.
