Possible Causes
Ice shovel blocked by oversized ice, Ice basket overfilled and obstructing movement, Stripped ice shovel motor gears, Faulty ice shovel motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the unit off and unplug it before clearing any jam.
- Remove ice basket: Take out the ice basket and inspect the ice-making area. Look for large clumps of ice or cubes wedged against the shovel or pusher arm.
- Clear obstruction: Use a plastic utensil (never metal) to gently break up and remove stuck ice. Do not force the shovel by hand; you can damage the gears.
- Check basket position: Reinstall the basket correctly so it does not interfere with the shovel travel.
- Restart the unit: Plug back in, power on, and run a cycle. If E2 clears and the shovel moves smoothly, monitor for recurrence.
- If E2 returns immediately: The shovel motor or gear set may be stripped or seized. Access usually requires removing the top or side cover, then the ice-making assembly. Inspect the motor and plastic gears for damage and replace as a set if worn.
