Possible Causes

Corrupted control board firmware, Failed control PCB, Loose display-to-main-board harness, Power surge damage

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the control panel.

  • Hard reset: Unplug the unit for at least 10 minutes to allow capacitors to discharge. Plug back in and test.
  • Inspect control connections: Remove the front or top panel to access the control board and display board. Reseat all ribbon cables and harness connectors.
  • Check for burn marks: Look for obvious damage on the PCB such as burnt components or discoloration. If present, the board must be replaced.
  • Surge protection: If the error occurred after a power outage or surge, consider using a surge protector once the board is replaced.
  • Replace control board: If E8 persists after reseating connectors, replace the main control PCB with the correct SPT part number. Transfer any wiring one connector at a time to avoid miswiring.
