Possible Causes
Failed condenser fan motor, Obstructed fan blades, Fan wiring harness issue, Control board fan driver failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before accessing the rear or bottom panel.
- Inspect fan area: Remove the rear or bottom cover to access the condenser fan. Check for dust buildup, plastic wrap, or other debris blocking the blades.
- Spin test: Gently spin the fan blades by hand. If stiff or seized, the motor is likely bad and should be replaced.
- Check wiring: Ensure the fan connector is fully seated on the control board and that wires are not damaged.
- Test after cleaning: Clean the fan and condenser coil, reassemble, and power on. If the fan still does not run and E9 returns, replace the fan motor.
- Board check: If a known-good fan motor does not run, the control board may not be sending power and will need replacement.
