Possible Causes
Failed water inlet valve, Clogged inlet screen, Low household water pressure, Kinked or pinched water supply line
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and shut off the water supply before servicing the inlet valve.
Steps to address EC01:
- 1. Verify water supply: Confirm the shutoff valve to the ice maker is fully open. Check that other cold water fixtures in the home have normal pressure.
- 2. Inspect supply line: Look behind or beneath the unit for kinks or sharp bends in the copper or braided line. Straighten as needed.
- 3. Clean inlet screen: Remove the water line from the inlet valve at the back or bottom of the unit. Inspect the valve's inlet screen for debris and gently clean with a small brush. Flush the supply line into a bucket to clear sediment.
- 4. Test the inlet valve: With power restored briefly and the line reconnected, initiate a fill or clean cycle and listen for the valve click and water flow. If the valve hums but no water enters (and supply is confirmed), or if it does not energize at all, disconnect power and continue.
- 5. Electrical checks: With power off, test the valve coil for continuity. An open coil indicates a failed valve. Inspect wiring and connectors for damage.
- 6. Replace inlet valve: If defective, remove mounting screws, disconnect wiring, and transfer hoses to the new OEM Sub-Zero inlet valve. Use new compression fittings or washers as required to prevent leaks.
