Possible Causes
Failed evaporator fan motor, Ice or debris blocking fan blade, Wiring harness damage, Control board fan output failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before working inside the cabinet. Fan blades can be sharp.
Steps to address EC06:
- 1. Inspect fan area: Remove the interior panel covering the evaporator (if accessible). Check for ice buildup or foreign objects preventing the fan from turning.
- 2. Thaw ice obstructions: If the fan is encased in ice, allow the unit to defrost by leaving it off with the door open (protect surrounding area from condensation). Do not chip ice with sharp tools.
- 3. Test fan motor: With power off, spin the fan blade by hand. If it is stiff or seized, the motor is likely bad. Check for play in the shaft.
- 4. Electrical checks: Measure motor winding resistance and inspect wiring and connectors. Replace the fan motor if open or shorted.
- 5. Control board: If the motor and wiring are good but the fan never receives power, the control board may be defective and should be evaluated by a professional.
