Ice maker displays EC70 or service code 70 and will not start or complete a harvest cycle.

Safety: Disconnect power before working on the harvest mechanism. Moving parts can cause injury.

Steps to address EC70:

• 1. Inspect for mechanical jams: Remove the front panel and observe the harvest mechanism (cam, rake, or sweep arm depending on model). Look for broken ice pieces, foreign objects, or heavy scale buildup preventing movement. Carefully remove obstructions.
• 2. Check the harvest motor: With power off, inspect the motor and gear assembly for obvious damage or stripped gears. Gently rotate the mechanism by hand (if design allows) to feel for binding.
• 3. Test motor operation: Restore power briefly and initiate a harvest test (refer to the tech sheet for button sequence). If the motor hums but does not turn, or does not receive power, shut off power and continue diagnosis.
• 4. Electrical checks: With power off, test the motor windings for continuity using a multimeter. Open windings indicate a failed motor that must be replaced. Inspect the harness and connector for burns or loose pins.
• 5. Replace harvest motor assembly: If the motor or gears are defective, replace the harvest motor/drive assembly with an OEM Sub-Zero part. Reassemble and verify smooth operation through a full cycle.
• 6. Control board: If the motor and wiring are good but no power is sent during harvest, the control board output may be faulty and should be evaluated by a professional.
