Possible Causes

Failed compressor start relay, Open thermal overload protector, Weak start capacitor, Locked compressor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the ice maker. The compressor and start components can store energy; handle with care.

  • Step 1 – Access compressor compartment: Remove the rear lower panel to expose the compressor and its start relay/overload assembly on your Teendow unit.
  • Step 2 – Inspect start relay and overload: Remove the plastic cover on the compressor terminals. Check the relay and overload for burn marks, rattling pieces, or melted plastic.
  • Step 3 – Test components: Using a multimeter, check continuity through the overload and relay according to Teendow specs. An open overload or burnt relay requires replacement.
  • Step 4 – Replace start kit: Install a Teendow-compatible compressor start relay/overload (and capacitor if used). Ensure each terminal is firmly connected and the cover is reinstalled.
  • Step 5 – Evaluate compressor: If new start components do not resolve E6 and the compressor hums then clicks off, the compressor may be mechanically locked and require professional replacement.
