Possible Causes
Defective ice thickness probe, Misaligned harvest sensor, Mineral buildup on sensor surface, Faulty wiring to control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow any hot surfaces to cool before working near the evaporator.
- Clean the ice thickness sensor: Locate the metal or plastic thickness probe near the evaporator plate where ice forms. Use warm water and a soft cloth to remove scale and mineral deposits. Do not use sharp tools that can damage the probe.
- Check alignment: Ensure the sensor or probe is correctly positioned relative to the evaporator plate as per the manual. If bent or out of place, gently reposition it.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires back to the control board. Look for loose connectors, broken insulation, or corrosion. Reseat connectors and repair any damaged wiring.
- Test sensor (if accessible): Some thickness sensors can be tested for continuity or resistance. Compare readings to Teka specifications. Replace the sensor assembly if readings are abnormal.
- Run a test cycle: Restore power and initiate a cleaning or test cycle if available. Observe whether the unit now proceeds into harvest without error.
