Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the ice maker or switch off the dedicated breaker before removing any panels. Use a non-contact voltage tester to confirm power is off.
- Step 1 – Verify wall power: Plug a lamp or meter into the outlet feeding the U-Line ice maker. Confirm 115V (or local spec). If no power, reset the breaker or contact an electrician.
- Step 2 – Inspect power cord and inlet: Pull the unit out carefully. Check the power cord for cuts, burns, or kinks. Ensure the cord is fully seated in the rear receptacle and the outlet.
- Step 3 – Access control board: Remove the lower front grille and/or rear access panel (varies by model). Locate the main control board (often in a plastic housing near the compressor area).
- Step 4 – Check harness connections: Inspect all plugs on the control board for looseness, corrosion, or heat damage. Reseat each connector firmly.
- Step 5 – Check internal fuse (if equipped): Many U-Line boards have a small glass or blade fuse. With power disconnected, remove and test continuity with a multimeter. Replace only with the same rating.
- Step 6 – Look for board damage: Examine the control for burnt spots, bulged components, or a burnt smell. If present, the board is likely failed.
- Step 7 – Replace control board: If outlet power is good and wiring/fuse are intact but E01 persists, replace the main control board. Transfer one connector at a time to avoid miswiring. Reassemble, restore power, and test.
If you are not comfortable working around mains voltage, contact a qualified appliance technician.
