Possible Causes

Failed condenser fan motor, Obstructed fan blade, Loose or damaged fan wiring harness, Faulty fan driver on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Unplug the ice maker before working near the fan or compressor. Keep fingers clear of fan blades when testing.

  • Step 1 – Access condenser fan: Remove the front grille or rear access panel to locate the condenser fan next to the condenser coil.
  • Step 2 – Inspect for obstructions: Check for insulation, wiring, or debris blocking the fan blade. Remove any obstruction and spin the blade by hand; it should turn freely.
  • Step 3 – Check wiring: Inspect the fan motor harness for cuts, loose connectors, or corrosion. Reseat the connector at the motor and control board.
  • Step 4 – Test fan motor: With power disconnected, measure motor winding resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. If comfortable and safe, you can also apply correct voltage directly to the motor leads to confirm operation.
  • Step 5 – Replace fan motor: Remove mounting screws or clips, transfer the fan blade to the new motor if needed, and reinstall. Ensure the blade is oriented correctly and not rubbing.

If the fan motor is good but never receives power when the compressor runs, the main control board may be defective and should be replaced by a professional.
